As we step into a new academic year, I am filled with pride and excitement for the journey ahead at JaxTHRIVE. Our mission remains strong: to support and empower refugee students while creating meaningful opportunities for young leaders across Jacksonville to serve.
This year promises to be especially impactful. We now have JaxTHRIVE clubs active at ten high schools throughout the city. We are uniting a diverse network of volunteers who bring fresh energy, ideas, and compassion to our work. Whether through tutoring, mentoring, art projects, soccer games, dance, yoga, or other initiatives, our volunteers have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the students they serve. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet peers from other schools.
We began the 2025 fall season with a dynamic volunteer training session, where attendance surpassed expectations. The enthusiasm in the room was contagious. New and returning volunteers alike were eager to learn, share, and connect. Most inspiring of all were the conversations sparked between different school clubs. Ideas flowed freely: from creative projects to wellness initiatives to expanded sports programs. This collaboration across schools is exactly the spirit that drives JaxTHRIVE forward.
At its core, JaxTHRIVE is a group of young compassionate teens who believe in giving back to their community. I cannot wait to see what we accomplish together this year.
