Advocacy for All
More than 60,000 refugees flee their home country to find a better life in the
United States every year. These refugees come with different backgrounds and cultures that may make it hard to adapt to the new circumstances and lifestyles that exist in the United States. Children make up a large portion of the refugee populations and still require education just like the average kid in the United States.

JaxTHRIVE Tutoring in Abu Dhabi, The United Arab Emirates (UAE) by Omar Abou Zahr
In our senior year, my classmates and I launched a tutoring project, as part of our International Baccalaureate Diploma Program’s (IBDP) Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) component, to uplift refugee students, a community I cherish for their resilience despite disrupted academic paths. Partnering with JaxThrive, I led nine classmates in a school-approved initiative to tutor a total of six students.
