Our Programs
JaxTHRIVE offers much-needed services to recently resettled refugees in the critical areas of education, empowerment, self-sufficiency and community support through our various programs.

Super Saturdays with Kim's Open Door
Super Saturdays are the highlight of JaxTHRIVE. Two Saturdays a month, JaxTHRIVE volunteers partner with Kim’s Open Door at Faith Community Methodist Church to offer tutoring, mentorship and an enrichment program. Refugee students rotate through different classrooms for English, Science, Art/Math and Dance. The day wraps up with a healthy lunch before they go home.

EmpowHer
Female Empowerment Program addresses the needs of female refugee students specifically. In addition to mentorship, we have offered a self-defense clinic, mind and body wellness workshop, and provided students with feminine hygiene products.

Financial Literacy Program
Teaching our students how to budget, save and understand money is important. We collaborate with Vystar Credit Union to organize a workshop to educate our refugee students and families about these important life skills to help them start their new lives in the U.S.

Annual Gift Drives
Every year, we collect both necessities and fun gifts for our refugee friends! We have a Back-to-School backpack & school supplies collection, Holiday in a Bucket drive with lots of cozy gifts and a Summer Kickoff Activity day when we give out fun toys and activities to keep the kids happy over the summer.

Virtual Tutoring
We match our high school volunteers with refugee students who need help with homework and school test preparation.

JaxTHRIVE Journeys
A community lecture series featuring speakers from many of our refugees' countries. For each program, we explore the food, culture, and politics of a particular geography. Attendees leave with a greater understanding of the places that many of our students call home. Previous topics have included The War in Ukraine, Building Bridges in Iraq, The Crisis in Afghanistan and The Lost Boys of Sudan.
